The Straw Men by Tony R. Cox

Finding a dead body at a crematorium isn’t all that unusual but when it’s outside in the car park, well that’s enough to raise a few eyebrows.

Reporter Simon Jardine finds the lure of a news story almost literally landing in his lap too much to resist and along with his right-hand man Tom Freeman he sets about establishing the facts.

As usual nothing is as it seems, and as they descend into the dangerous heart of a sophisticated drug smuggling operation they uncover the involvement of both a local property tycoon and a knight of the realm, but when they discover that a highly placed corrupt policeman is also on the gang’s pay-roll things suddenly get very personal for ex-copper Tom.

As the stakes rise ever higher, Jardine & Freeman must call on all the skills & resources at their disposal to bring the criminals to justice and somehow escape with their lives in their most thrilling adventure yet.
